A dish of sex, a pinch of sweat, a drop of intrigue…

…and a spoon of violence.

When I was little my parents divorced, so for some reason my father left all of his books with us. As I was always a dreamy and kind of gentle kid deep in my heart I loved reading ordinary girly books and classics. I would always think that my father’s books were too violent and repulsive – full of blood, murder, dirty money and mafia stories. However, one day I decided to give them a chance since they would just lay around – I was determined that either I was going to like them and use them or get rid of them, so that I can use the space accordingly for my own book collections.

I grabbed the first one that caught my attention, being a fan of Japanese culture the title was simply “The Ninja” by Eric Van Lustbader.

I read the first page and (without a causal relation) went to the bathroom. Well, what can I say? This was my last break away from the book until I finished it in one sitting. The author’s magnificent way of expressing and pulling you into the atmosphere is astonishing. I am no good with book reviews but as far as my abilities go to describe this book I can only say that at one point I remember that I even could smell what was being described – it is so permeating that it takes your breath away. Even if you are not so easily enticed (as I rarely read fiction anymore) you are going to be on one hell of a ride which I highly recommend.

Now, I am reading another of his great books called Sirens. I bought it really cheap at the seaside for about 4$ or so from a box with old and tattered books and I don’t know why but I have been reading it on and off, maybe because I can’t bear the awesomeness. As I have read the other translated in my native language, I was even more amazed to find how great his books were in English. I was searching for his collections in libraries and bookstores but they gave a price I couldn’t afford at the time. But now, all of a sudden, I am determined to collect and read all of them. So, if you ever encounter one of his books (especially earlier ones, because I haven’t read newer ones), just buy them or if you love me that much give it to me and you will make me a happy person.

I have always hated the type of childish questions like “What is your favourite song/band/book/actor?”, because I could never choose just one. But this…. This could definitely roll out into an obsession.

Are you a Geek or a Nerd?

nerd or geekCheck this awesome post to see what exactly is the difference between these two.

Geek or Nerd?

I would say I am more of a nerd as I tend to think a lot about some topics, I do research and need to know a lot of things about a certain topic before I make my mind about it.

When I am interested about a subject, I tend to dive in and want to know more, experiment, practice, play with it until I feel satisfied. But for some topics I am just a geek and I just fan around about them.

What is your verdict?

A quick fashion travel in time!

Life is a little awkward – things come and go: we change our clothes, our behaviour, our passions. Even sometimes, God forbid,  our thinking!

As I love fashion and seeing change coming through the years, this little time travel will show you how exactly fashion has changed in East London.

Could it be that maybe besides our external we have come a bit closer to living in a world of equality and actual forward thinking?

Come on, see the clip – it’s a great mixture of humour, great dancing and (mostly) beautiful fashion! 0:23 is totally my style!

So, maybe, let’s say…you wanna hang out?

I feel like I am on a first date with you. My fingers are a bit slow and my hands are a bit shaky. I lick my lips a few times. My pupils are a bit larger than usual. I feel my heart starting to race and the only sound I hear is the blood pumping in my ears.

Random thoughts fill the void in my mind like the ultimate dating question “how do women still go out on dates, when the number one threat for their life is being alone with a man”, inspired by THIS Louis CK video or wondering how to ask whether you have heard that in Reddit there is a forum where people pretend that Life is a real-life MMORPG called Outside which was a personal and amazing discovery for me.

I have always wanted to go on a date that looks a bit like speed dating – asking the questions that interest you the most and you know that the other person would answer with no hard feelings.

  • What is your biggest dream?
  • What kind of person would you like to become in the foreseeable future?
  • Do you regret something in your life and what have you learned from it?

These three could easily be my pick!

I’m not sure I believe in regrets. I think that every experience has formed me as a person, though I am totally not proud of some decisions I have made in the past. These are some things I have learned along the way:

  1. Trust your instincts.
  2. Be prejudiced, it’s actually not that bad and it is a great surprise when someone actually proves you wrong.
  3. Do the best you can, but “best” is different each day, so don’t guilt-trip yourself.

Our time together slowly passes in jokes, smiles and sharing fond memories and I wish you’ll call me again.

I hope this place fills you with joy

Thank you,

Julie.

First Step In The Madness Realm!

Hello!

My name is Julia.

This is my creative outlet in order to remain sane. I have always been a curious soul – one that longs to see, smell, hear and experience everything. I could never choose just one vocation, one life, one way of thinking because I am constantly searching for a new perspective and a new thrill.

I blog/share because I hope that this will serve at least one person in some way whether to inspire, dream, amuse, entertain or inform. Sometimes people need just a little touch on the forehead for someone they like to nudge them on the path they were longing to take. Some blogs have done that for me and I hope that I can pay this forward.

I am going to lead you through all of my interests – one at a time. Sometimes I will remain focused on something that caught my attention for a day and sometimes I would become obsessed for weeks.

Few recurring themes will probably be food & health; sport & adventure; art & creativity; games; books & movies; business and/or marketing; spirituality; martial arts; leisure time activities.

I will try to make it as easy as possible for you to discover the theme that you are interested in, but I still hope you will get lost in my mad little world and enjoy the ride.

From this blog I want to connect with people who are also excited about life, who like adventures, who like to think out of the box and go for their dreams. This is an ambitious list of qualities, so even if you don’t match all or don’t feel secure that you match the description – don’t be afraid to reach out and connect.

If this blog turns out to be successful and someone reads it at all, I imagine that by the end of the year I would have found a way to engage with these readers, I want to read people’s comments, I want to make new friends, I want to know that there are people excited by (some of) the things I am. Also, it would be great if I manage to update this blog at least once a week, if not more.

Thank you for being here!

Julia
